We are delighted to invite you to experience ADVENTURE BEGINS AT YOUR LIBRARY at the Community Library Network this summer. Our programs are designed to empower children, teens, and adults to discover new books, hobbies, and resources offered by the library. Our dedicated sta„ have spent the last year planning outstanding programs and we are thrilled to offer these programs at our libraries and throughout our communities.

Summer programs are a perfect time to promote the joy of reading, lessen the impact of summer learning loss, connect our communities, and engage all members of our community with dynamic programs to support lifelong learning. The Community Library Network offers something for every age: books, music, online resources, family concerts, cooking demonstrations, community hikes, technology classes, history programs and so much more.

HOW IT WORKS!

KIDS OF ALL AGES, BIRTHš18 YEARS, AND ADULTS, CAN EARN PRIZES for reading and completing activities at library events or programs all summer. Here’s how it works:

  1. Registration opens Monday, May 13. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program beginning Monday, May 13, or in person at one of the fi ve network libraries. Register for Beanstack at communitylibrarynetwork.beanstack.org/.
  2. Log your reading on Beanstack from June 1 – August 31 or track your reading with a game board, reading log, or bookmark, available at libraries while supplies last.
  3. Claim your prize at your library when you meet your goal each month!

TEEN VOLUNTEERS

Looking for something fun to do this summer? Are you going into 7th-12th grade in the Fall? Would you like to assist with children’s and teen programs, work on library projects, or create artwork?

We are looking for teen volunteers to help out June 1 through August 31. If you are interested, please fill out the application and attend one of our mandatory volunteer orientations.

Volunteer positions are open at all five libraries. Volunteers help with programs, crowd control, program preparation, general office work, and more. Open to teens and young adults age 12-18.

If selected, teens will need to attend one of the following orientations:
Hayden: Saturday, June 8, 11:00 am
Virtual: Friday, June 7, 4:00 pm

Smokey Bear turns 80!

Help Smokey celebrate his 80th birthday by learning how to prevent wildfires and help the environment! Read 3 books on wildfi re prevention or the environment and earn 4 activity badges to complete the challenge and earn your prize. Start by taking Smokey’s Pledge. Badges are earned by completing at least one activity in each section. You can select books from Smokey's Reading List at smokeybear.com or choose your own. Complete each activity to earn an entry in the special Smokey Bear prize package drawing.

Carmen Sandiego

The infamous international thief, Carmen Sandiego, has just stolen the Mona Lisa from the Louvre Museum in Paris. Your mission is to track her travels so the police can apprehend her. Visit one of the three participating area libraries over the summer for weekly clues of Carmen’s whereabouts. Guess her location and receive a stamp or sticker, then check your progress on the world map. You will receive a notebook to track your progress. Participate for the whole summer to be entered to win a grand prize! Do not need to be present to win.

PROGRAMS BEGIN MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 — Here is a sneak peek of what we have planned!

Back to the Library Party, September 3-7. Don’t be Blue, we’ve missed you! Celebrate the start of the school year and a brand-new lineup of programs here at the library. We’re excited to welcome you back with Bluey-themed games, snacks, crafts, and books (of course)!

Idaho Family Reading Week in November. Join us November 3-9 for Idaho Family Reading Week. Celebrate the joy of reading and discover ways you can play and learn as a family.

Noon Year’s Eve Party Monday, December 30, 11:00am. Ring in the Noon Year with your library friends. Snacks, crafts, a dance party, and a special countdown make this event one of our favorite annual traditions.

Kindergarten Countdown 4 & 5 year-olds, this storytime is especially for you! Join us for stories, songs, games, and fun activities that help develop the social/ emotional, motor, language, literacy, and math skills your little learner needs to be ready for kindergarten.

Launch into Learning Play & Learn. Families with children from birth to five years old are invited to play together and meet new friends at the library. This playgroup provides opportunities for hands-on learning, sensory experiences, and community bonding.
